The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey, has dispelled claims that President Akufo-Addo was hooted at the Global Citizen Festival.
He said contrary to media reports, the president was rather cheered on during his address at the event.
He furthered that the cheers were so much that for a minute the President had to wait to speak because the noise would make his speech not audible.
In an interview on Hitz FM’s U Sey Wetin Show, he said the Global Citizen Festival held at Black Star Square in Accra was in favour of the President and what is being said and hyped by the media as he was hooted is false.
He further explained that the video circulating with regards to the President being hooted was planned by certain people to change the image of the event. He touched on it that, the video was shot far from the podium and involved only a few persons thus the voices of the few could not outweigh the voices of the numerous closer to the podium and the show at large.
He also gave a clue that, the internet and social media were active during the event so why were there no tweets about him being hooted. It was five to six hours after the program that stories were made up.
He concluded that this shows that, the whole scene was planned by a few persons and that the whole story being hyped that the President was hooted is false and orchestrated.
