Two children have met their untimely death while five others have sustained severe injuries after a church building collapsed on them at Gomoa Akoti in the Central Region.
The children who were with their parents at New Grace Chapel died during Sunday afternoon’s torrential downpour which trapped them in the church building located in the Gomoa East District.
According to reports, the windstorm brought down the weakened church structure with members in the building which led them to run for their lives.
But the deceased children, a 14-year-old and a 3-year-old could not run and got trapped inside the structure leading to their death.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital whiles the deceased body has been deposited at the same hospital’s morgue.
General Overseer of the New Heaven Grace Chapel, Prophet Peter Osei Owusu who confirmed the incident to Angel news’ Opanyin Darko, said the matter has been reported to the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command for investigations.
