Akufo-Addo told to emulate his leadership qualities like he did during Covid-19

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been charged by an economist to exhibit the leadership qualities he showed during the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure the current economy of the country is stabilized.

Dr. Badu Sarkodie, an economist at the University of Ghana Business School, believes despite the country’s economic challenges, the president can do better considering how best he managed the same economy when Ghana recorded its cases of the Covid in 2019.

Against this background, he is urging Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to show leadership in managing the country’s economy.

The Economist made the call on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, on Accra-based TV3.

“Now is the time that they should show leadership, they showed during covid time, and we appreciated. They should engage stakeholders, GUTA, and others, sit with them. We must have a plan and execute the plan. We need selfless leaders to do that, and I believe President can do that.

“He can do it, this is the time to do it, this is the time to take some bold decisions because he has nothing else to lose,” Dr. Sarkodie stressed.

Adding his voice to Ghana’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for a bailout, the economist underscored the need for the country to undertake reforms.
