Accra Hearts of Oak over the weekend recorded their first ever victory in the ongoing 2022/23 Betpawa Ghana Premier League, after staging a comeback to beat Bibiani Gold Stars 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Under new Serbian trainer, Slavko Matić the FA Cup champions from a goal down exhibited their ‘never say die’ spirit in front of their home fans.

The Bibiani-based club just nine minutes into the game took the lead through a superb strike from forward Prince Kwabena Owusu from the edge of the box to beat goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.

The phobians fired from all cylinders but failed to grab the equalizer allowing Gold Stars to lead them at halftime.

The away side held on to their lead until goalkeeper Joseph Baah was sent off for an off-the-ball incident in the second half. The Phobians thus took the opportunity of the numerical advantage and equalized through attacker Isaac Mensah in the 78th minute.

Two minutes to full time in the 88th minute, Gladson Awako scored from a free-kick to complete the come-back for the phobians.

The win moves Accra Hearts of Oak to the 9th on the Ghana Premier League table.
