Information reaching Angelonline.com.gh suggests that a man believed to be in his thirties has been confirmed dead after exchange of blows with a commercial driver’s mate.

Reports indicate that the deceased refused to pay the extra GH₵2 fare following an upward adjustment in transport fares.

The sad incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, October 29 at the Lapaz bus terminal around 8:00pm.

The male passenger heading towards Pokuase boarded the car around Lapaz and was expected to pay GH₵7.70 instead of the previous GH₵5.50.

After several agitations over the new fare by all the passengers in the vehicle, calm was restored.

However, the deceased declined paying the new fare. This angered the driver who decided to return the passengers to the Lapaz bus terminal where he picked them up.

Out of anger, all the passengers were made to disembark from the car but the deceased refused to budge.

A fight finally ensued among the deceased, the driver and his mate and others at the bus terminal.

“The Massive increment in the Price caused Brouhaha in our vehicle, so a Male passenger who couldn’t stop talking after everyone was calm at some point, kept annoying the driver and his mate,to the extent the driver had 2 stop at Mile 7 rasta park area and return to de terminal.

“He lost is life after one unawares punch ,which made his head hit on of the pavement at the terminal and lost his precious life. May his soul rest in a perfect peace. I can’t believe he lost his life sake of 2 cedis increment”, a twitter user posted.

To be this aggressive over 2cedis, I believe dude was fighting his own battles prior to the whole incident. This was just an opportunity to take out his frustrations on someone/something else. Unfortunately it didn’t end well, life truly is hard.

His body has since been deposited at the morgue.
