A 23-year-old Enerstina Manso popularly known as Maame Esi tried to commit suicide on Tuesday, November 2, at her mother’s house at Nkroful in the Effia-Kwesi-Menstim of Western Region.

Reports indicate that she wanted to kill her two children and then end her own life afterwards.

According to an eyewitness called Adwoa, she went to Esi’s house to check up on her only to find her trying to kill her first son.

She narrated that Maame Esi did not respond to her calls immediately when she knocked but she persisted and upon interrogation she admitted trying to kill herself and her two sons.

The victim narrated that her husband was no longer interested in her after discovering she was intimate with another man.

Explaining what transpired, she said she went to her husband’s friend for medication but the said friend would only help her after having sex with her.

“My husband is suffering from waist pains and I needed medication for him.  Went to his friend but he said he would sleep with me first…I agreed since I was desperate but after having his way with me for on three different occasions, he told me he has no medicine for me.”
