Some Ghanaian celebrities have reacted to the ‘controversial’ penalty goal scored against the country by Cristiano Ronaldo in Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup first match.

Following this, some celebrities took to their official social media pages to express their views and opinions about how the penalty was rewarded.

Serwaa Amihere a female broadcast journalist quizzed “Can they cancel the penalty”.

A musician, Opanka also noted that the referee’s action and inaction on the field was pure robbery.

“Hi@FIFAcom y’all need to do something about this robbery penalty against Ghana by the referee” and added that “the referee really robbed us about the penalty, didn’t even border to check VAR….,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Berla Mundi of TV3 framed in her view the incident was “not a penalty,” and could not fathom why the referee decided not to review the penalty call.

Black sheriff also tweeted that “they rob wanna”.

To add to the scores of celebrities, Saddick Adams, the head of sports of Angel FM-Accra, said that in as much as Ghana lost the match, the penalty was fake.

“Fake penalty for Ronaldo and Portugal. We have lost but just reminding everyone that there was a fake penalty in the World Cup to help Portugal and Ronaldo scores,” he posted.
