The Ghana Meteorolgical Agency (GMA) has predicted intense dry conditions in the next three months.

“From December 2022 to February 2023, the number of dry weather conditions cloudless skies, and hot days across most parts of the country will gradually increase,” said the Acting Director-General of the agency, Eric Assum.

This was indicated in the Agency’s 2022/2023 dry harmattan season advisory dated November 24, 2022.

That said, there would be occasional periods of moisture that could result in some precipitation for a day or two particularly along the coastal belt.

GMA also mentioned that while there would relatively cold nights and mornings for the Northern and Transition Zones of Ghana, there would also be present in the atmosphere some dust particles and aerosols.

“Poor visibility values will range between less than one Km and approximately five km due to advection of dust particles from the dust source region,” the statement added.

“During this period, dry and hazy weather conditions with varying intensities are expected over most parts of the country with increase in hotspot activities in the fire-prone areas of the country.”

Humidity on the other hand is expected to range between 15 to 70 per cent.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency, therefore, urged the public to be cautious about naked fires to avert outbreaks of fires.
