A brace from Mohammed Kudus inspired Ghana to record a 3-2 victory over South Korea at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The goals helped Coach Otto Addo’s boys to survive a late scare from the Asian side to record its first-ever win at the Mundial.

The result means Africa has now set a new record at the World Cup with three countries recording victories on Matchday 2 of the tournament. These include Ghana Senegal and Morocco.

Ghana opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu who slotted in a loose ball from the Korean Republican’s penalty area.

The Stars continued to press and duly claimed the comfort goal 10 minutes later after Ajax Amsterdam star Mohammed Kudus beat the offside trap to outjump Kim Min-Jae to flick home a Jordan Ayew cross.

The first half thus ended 2-0 in Ghana’s favour, despite the pressure mounted by the Korean side.

However, back from recess, 24-year-old Gue-Song Cho scored a brace in the space of four minutes to level the scoring for Korea. He scored in the 58th and 61st minutes respectively.

Ghana responded quickly just after seven minutes. It was Mohammed Kudus who once again restored the lead in the 68th minute which proved to become the match-winner.

Ghana having played one more game than Portugal now has 3 points, same accumulated by the Portuguese.

Uruguay has also accumulated one point having played one game fewer than South Korea who has one point as well from two matches.
