The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, Dr Dominic Ayine, has requested a secret vote to decide the fate of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.

The call comes after the ad-hoc committee of parliament looked into allegations levelled against the embattled minister and submitted its findings to the plenary for debate.

According to Dr Ayine who is Co-Chairman of the committee, despite the fact that Mr Ofori-Atta was guiltless in a few allegations levelled against him, the evidence the committee has discovered during the hearing is more than enough to guarantee his sack from office.

The minister was accused of economic mismanagement, financial recklessness and conflict of interest among others.

It was on the back of these allegations that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin constituted the committee to look into them and provide a report to the House.

The ad-hoc committee was co-chaired by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Adansi Asokwa constituency, K.T. Hammond, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Bolgatanga East, Dr. Dominic Ayine.

The House, however, held the debate on November 8, 2022, following its postponement, being slated for December 7, 2022.
