The Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, inaugurated the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) Special Revenue Protection TaskForce.

Ahead of the inauguration, the minister and his entourage paid a courtesy call on His Majesty Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II, Overlord of Dagbon.
The purpose of the courtesy call, according to him, was to first inform him of his visit to Dagbon and his purpose, and further to seek his blessings and support for the task force.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Special Revenue Taskforce in Yendi, the Energy Minister stressed on the significance of the taskforce in checking all forms of revenue leakages.

He said “This is the only way we can save the finances of NEDCo. Through the institution of a similar task force under the directive of the Ministry of Energy, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has made some significant loss recoveries.

“I was buoyed by the Yaa Naa’s support for the taskforce and I am confident it will succeed in its mandate to help make the power sector more efficient and fit for purpose.

“The Special Revenue Protection TaskForce which I inaugurated for NEDCo shall have a special mandate to, among others, check all forms of revenue leakages,” Dr. Opoku Prempeh underscored.
