Former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for accepting his resignation.

The minister, in a twitter post said he was thankful for the opportunity to serve.

“I would like to thank @NAkufoAddo for the opportunity to serve and for graciously accepting my resignation as Cabinet Minister responsible for Trade and Industry, effective 16th January, 2023.”

The Trade and Industry Minister tendered his resignation letter to the President on Thursday.

Although the reason for his resignation is yet to unfold, many are pointing to his ambition to be president as a key factor.

Mr. Alan Kyerematen in his twitter post also expressed gratitude to family members, friends and party members who supported him in his role as Trades Minister.

“I sincerely appreciate the support from my family, colleagues, my party the NPP, the international community, and the general public during my tenure as a Minister.”

President Akufo-Addo, on his part accepted Alan’s resignation and thanked him for his services to the nation.

In the meantime, the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is now the caretaker minister for the ministry.

Also, Mr. Kyerematen added that “I will be addressing the Ghanaian people in the next few days.”
