Krobo: ECG promotes peace among customers with sporting activities

Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Tema Region, embarked on sporting activities amidst creating healthy working environment at the Krobo enclave in the Eastern Region.

The exercise that took place on Saturday, 14th January 2023, Yilo Krobo Senior High School (YIKROSEC), Park, saw football teams from selected communities in the Krobo District play each other amid funfair.

The participating teams were ECG/military team, Kpogunor team, Kpong team
Akro, Somanya Police team and YIKROSEC.

After the group stage fixtures, the Somanya Police team faced the ECG/Military team in the semi-final where the ECG/Military won and progressed to the finals.

The Kpong team also locked horns with the YIKROSEC team in the second semi- finals whereas Kpong won and set up a final with the ECG/Military team.

Following an entertaining but a competitive final between the ECG/Military team and Kpong in regulation time, there was nothing to show up in settling between the two sides.

A post-match penalty shootout was however made to settle the two as the ECG/Military team converted all kicks to emerged winners of the maiden edition of the fun games on 5-3.

According to management of the power distribution company, since sports serves as a unifying activity hence, they decided to use that as one way to enhance the current smooth working relationship between ECG and the customers/public in the district.

They also used the medium to “appreciate the beauty of working hand in hand” with customers in the area following the differences that had occurred between the two parties some years ago.

And added that it was to “serve as a reconciliatory activity and also to have fun with a cross section of the public.”

Some topnotch officials who graced the occasion included Ing. Emmanuel Akinie, General Manager, ECG Tema Region, and Ing. Christopher Apawu, Acting District Manager, ECG Krobo District.
