The Ashaiman District Court has remanded into prison custody the six suspected persons arrested in connection with the killing of a soldier, Imoro Sherrif, at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The six, Safianu Musah alias Dayorgu, Ibrahim Abdul Samuel Tetteh alias Wiper, Abubakar Sadick alias Birdman, Yussif Mohammed and Gafaru Abdul Karim were arrested between March 9-12, at different locations.

According to the police, two of the accused persons attacked the soldier, stabbed him in the arm and made away with his phone whiles the four are alleged to have bought the phone of the deceased after it was stolen.

Police detailed account had it that the deceased Imoro Sheriff was found dead in a pool of blood near the Amania Hotel in Ashaiman while returning from a female friend at Ashaiman Newtown.

Appearing in court on Monday, March 13, the counsel for the four alleged to have bought the phone from the prime suspects prayed the court to grant his clients bail.

He argued that his clients cannot be linked with the robbery nor the alleged murder incidents, however the prosecution kicked against the bail application and noted that the accused persons have no permanent place of abode.

After considering the case, the judge, remanded the four accused persons together with the two other suspects into prison custody to reappear on March 27, 2023.
