Police in Twifo Praso District have arrested the chief of Anyinase, Nana Nkwantabisa who doubles as the Krontihene for Twifo Traditional Council, for dispassionately stealing railway metals.
The Queen mother, Nana Amoanimaa Brago III, the Abakomahene, Zongo Chief, Sairki Tahiru, and two others were all arrested for the same offense.
The suspects have been handed over to the Central North Regional Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
According to an earlier report filed by Angel FM and Angel TV’s Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, some unscrupulous individuals have consistently been stealing railway metals at night and traded them to scrap dealers.
These activities continue to impede the government’s effort to increase Ghana’s railway investment.
The police, as part of their routine patrol exercise, spotted the suspects on Saturday night allegedly busily cutting the railway metals, and quickly arrested them.
The Central North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Teye Cudjoe has hinted the suspects will be arraigned before the court to face the full rigours of the law.
