The Assin Fosu Magistrate court presided by Abdul Majid Iliasu, has convicted a 36-year-old spiritualist, Iddi Olaxy Mohammed, and Evans Appiah-Adjei a labourer, to a fine of Gh¢1,440.00 for trading in fierce street fighting.

The spiritualist, popularly known as ‘Money god’, leads an occult empire known as Money God empire at Assin Akomfode in the Assin North District of the Central Region, while the labourer, Evans Appiah-Adjei is a safety officer with the Shimizu Dai Nippon JV, a Japanese road construction firm working on Assin Fosu-Praso National Trunk road.

The convicts, who are to pay Gh¢720.00 each, will serve a three-month jail term in hard labour in default.

Presenting the case to the court, Chief prosecution officer, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo explained that on March 21, 2023, at about 10:30 am, the first accused was assigned to direct traffic at a section of the road.

In the course of his work, he spotted, Iddi Olaxy Mohammed, using the unapproved route by walking on the freshly asphalted area of the road, he confronted and directed him to use the designated approved route but the convict Iddi allegedly declined the instruction.

The fact presented at the court indicated that Iddi Olaxy Mohammed slapped Evans Appiah-Adjei when he attempted to prevent him from using the said unapproved route.

The second convict, Appiah-Adjei retaliated by hitting him with a shovel resulting in a fierce fight which led to the division of the second convict’s left ear into two and a deep cut on the neck.

During the scuffle, Evans Appiah Adjei’s right thump fell in the gaping mouth of Iddi Mohammed which he bit to injury.

The prosecutor continued that the police swiftly proceeded to the scene to effect arrest and charged them with acts tending conducive to the breach of public peace, contrary to section 298 of the criminal offenses act 29/60, and subsequently arraigned them before the court.

The first convict, Evans Appiah-Adjei pleaded guilty with an explanation, which the explanation confirmed the offense committed while the second accused, Iddi a.k.a Money God pleaded guilty outrightly to the count.

They were, therefore, convicted accordingly.

Even though both convicts have paid their fines, Iddi Olaxy Mohamed the second convict has been detained in police custody for another alleged criminal offense.
