Staff in the Krobo District of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited, under the Tema Region on May Day to, 2023, took it upon themselves to fill potholes on some roads within Somanya.

The project was undertaken with the support of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly. ECG pothole-filling

The initiative is expected to ease the tension that exists between the residents and ECG following the deployment of military personnel last year to support the power distributor to implement the prepaid meters there.

Speaking on the decision to embark on this project, the Public Relations Officer for ECG Tema Region, Sakyiwaa Mensah said that “Staff of the ECG also use the roads.

“The potholes have made using the roads a bit slower than it should be, hence our decision to help make it a bit more motorable for road users.

“ECG takes our corporate social responsibility seriously and as beneficiaries of various social infrastructure, we deem it necessary to support in maintaining some of them whenever possible,” she added.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Eric Tetteh who was present with his Presiding Member and some other officials, commended the ECG and the military personnel for their support for this project, while also calling for more of such collaboration.
