The wait for the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title race is over as Medeama SC emerged winners of the championship for the first time in their history.

The ‘Yellow and Mauve’ achieved the historical feat when they exibited a five-star performance to beat Tamale City 3-0 in Tarkwa on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the famous Akoon Park, Tarkwa.

Medeama had to wait for the final round of matches following a stiff competition from second place Bechem United.

Bechem United, however, needed nothing but a win against fierce rival Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa. The ‘hunters’ were second on the league table with 54 points.

With 57 points, all the Tarkwa-based side needed was any other result apart from a looe since they had a better goal difference.

Medeama SC shot into the lead courtesy an 8th minute finish through forward Joshua Agyemang which set the fully-package Akoon Park agog.

Back from recess lanky striker Joshua Agyemang headed home the second goal in the 67th to extend the lead for the home side.
