Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly (TNMA) in the Western Region has pledged its heartfelt support to next season’s Africa campaign of Ghanaian champions, Medeama SC.

According to the assembly, it shall be corporative with the government and other firms to give the necessary financial support to the Western Region-based premier league side to excel.

Mr. Kesses is a former deputy Administrative Manager of Medeama SC

The ‘Yellow and Mauve’ will have the opportunity to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season after winning the 2022/23 Betpawa Ghana Premier League.

Medeama’s crowning moment became the first-ever topflight league title in the club’s history.

The assembly’s promise was made official in June 2023, when the reigning champions paid a courtesy call on them as part of its trophy presentation tour.

The Tarkwa Nsuaem Assembly led by the MCE received team Medeama last months during its trophy presentation tour

The contingent consisted of the entire playing body and was led by the Director of Communication of the club, Patrick Akoto, and other communication team members including James Bawa and Nana Effa.

Addressing the champions, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Tarkwa Nsuaem, Benjamin Kesse, said the assembly will support the club fully on all fronts to project Tarkwa to the football community globally.

“Tarkwa Nsuaem municipal assembly will support you anytime, any day, therefore, as a municipality, we have to put Tarkwa in order to enable host visitors and football enthusiasts who will throng here to come and watch football matches,” Mr Kesse stated.

Owning to major mining companies in the catchment area, he added the assembly will oversee the securing of bumper sponsorship deals for the team to help cut costs on its forthcoming journey.

“When it comes to sponsorship the assembly will play the needed role. We are going to engage the major mining companies. Fortunately for us, our Member of Parliament is a minister in the sector of mines – he is the deputy minister.

“And God being so good, we have all the major mining firms here, such as Goldfields, AngloGold, and DMC, among others. So, together, we are going to sit them down and ask them to support Medeama,” he opined.

Mr. Kesse emphasized that “So whatever the sponsorship proposals are, bring it to us after drafting them and we’ll add the necessary cover letters on them and push it from our offices for these firms to know that the assembly and government are in full support of the club.”

He seized the opportunity and postulated the exploits of the team and asserted the need to be proud of the unprecedented mark because it will go down into the history books of Ghana football.

The MCE whiles showing appreciation presented a cash worth GH¢10,000 to team Medeama SC for the feat achieved, for both the club and the region at large.

Medeama SC, as part of its trophy tour, had visited the office of the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko in Takoradi and bestowed the GPL trophy on him in a momentous presentation ceremony.

They extended it to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, and Nana Amo Tobin (Tobinco) who doubles as the Chairman of Tobinco Group, and Dwantoahene of Apinto Divisional Council (Tarkwa).

The team received GH¢47,000 from the Western Regional Minister, GH¢100,000 from Nana Amo Tobin as well as GH¢100,000 from the Speaker of Parliament for winning the season’s topflight league.
