A ruthless attack on a young man identified as Emmanuel Ghyabah Junior in the Kato enclave, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono Region by a mob who reportedly mistook him for a thief has left his life in danger.

Believed to be in his 20s and a Senior High School graduate, Emmanuel is said to be a high-fever patient who was attacked by the youth Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Kato.

ABN’s Bono Regional reporter, Eric Amoako, reported that the victim who recently graduated from the SHS hardly goes out because he has been placed on medication and under strict supervision by his parents.

But on the faithful day, Emmanuel Gyabah allegedly vacated the house on the blind side of his parents to the Kato township touring around until he met the unfortunate incident.

“Due to his health conditions, he could not talk to defend himself when the suspects accused him of a goat thief in the vicinity. So, they [accused persons] continue their actions without showing any mercy on the victim against the backdrop that the victim was a suspect among unfazed persons who had resorted to making goat stealing in the area a norm,” the reporter detailed to Angelonline.com.gh

The victim’s father, Emmanuel Gyabah Senior who confirmed that his son was suffering from a high fever, thought his sick child was in the house as part of his usual indoor routines.

However, he noted to have received a distress call from a friend in Kato informing him about how mercilessly his son was being beaten for allegedly stealing a goat.

Mr. Gyabah Snr stressed he was compelled to rush to the scene with his wife including some friends to rescue their innocent son from meeting his untimely death in the hands of the attackers, although their intervention faced fierce resistance from the mob.

He was subsequently rushed to the Berekum Holy Family hospital for first aid treatment and has since been discharged and receiving medical attention in the house.
