The Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity And Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson has encouraged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to make use of lifestyle audit to detect public officials engaged in acts of corruption.

Speaking on Angel Morning Show on Monday, Mr Mensah Thompson said this will help to easily identify persons who are living above their means because they are benefiting from one act of corruption or another.

“There is something called lifestyle audit…that is what is normally used by investigative bodies abroad to detect public officials who are engaged in one act of corruption or another…and I believe we can use this more to detect persons who are engaged in acts of corruption in this country…,” he said.

Mr Thompson reocmmended this antidote to fighting corruption while reacting to the resignation of former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

Madam Abena Dapaah resigned as Sanitation Minister after she was hounded on social media over millions of dollars she kept in her room which was later stolen by her house helps.

The money and personal effects belonging to the minister including assorted clothes valued at GH¢95,000, handbags, perfumes, and jewellery worth US$95,000 were allegedly stolen by 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei.

The two house helps who were working for the Minister and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour are currently standing trial.
