Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Demicratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as the 2024 flagbearer of the party.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show on Thursday, Allotey Jacobs said the Vice President has proven time again that he is the best candidate to take over the mantle of leadership from President Akufo-Addo.
“Bawumia must be made to fix whatever got destroyed under this government, he deserves that second chance because he is a deep thinker…,” he told host, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
‘Uncle Allotey’ as he is called further said that the NPP has done a lot to change the fortunes of this country but Ghanaians are not appreciating the efforts of the government because of the hardships.
But to him, the hardships are never a creation of the Akufo-Addo administration as they are now faced with global happenings which they have no control over.
“Ghanaians criticise everything in Ghana while Nigerians praise whatever is happening here…sometimes, we don’t appreciate what we have,” he said.
Allotey Jacobs further described former President John Mahama as the ‘past tense’ who has nothing better to offer the country again.
“The global economic recession has affected everyone, so this is the time for us to use our senses, it’s time we elect someone who is a deep thinker to change the fortunes of this country and I am for Bawumia…,” he said.
