The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has warned that the party’s leadership will stop at nothing to ensure fairness in the party’s super delegates conference.

The NPP scribe in an interview on Angel Morning Show on Friday, 25th August, 2023 said the party’s election committee has put in place several measures to ensure fairness in the polls.

“There will not be any form of intimidation but security has been beefed up and it will be criminal to display your vote to the public…,” he assured.

The fierce race to decide who leads the NPP in the 2024 presidential election will enter the home stretch as the ruling party at the Super Delegates Conference on Saturday to reduce the 10 aspirants to five.

The Special Electoral College will be a prelude to the crucial national conference on November 4, 2023, where the party’s flag bearer for the 2024 general election will be selected.

The nationwide poll follows months of intensive campaigning by the aspirants across the length and breadth of the country to win the hearts and minds of the delegates in whose hands their destiny lies.

The nature of campaigning has made the race very hot and intense with Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, former Trades Minister, Alan Kyeremanten and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the driving seat.

The intense nature of the campaigns has led many to conclude that the process if likely to be acrimonous, a view which the General Secretary disagrees.

“It is going to the be one of the best peaceful, free fair elections ever in this country…everybody will be under the elections committee and they will ensure that…,” he told host, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
