Ghana Gas rubbishes report of rot within company, demands apology

The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has dismissed media reports of an alleged rot at the state-owned firm.

According to the company, the widespread reports of rot in its operations is “malicious and unfounded.”

A statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications, Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 rubbished reports by The Herald newspaper that there exist a corruption syndicate in the company.

The company, responding to the news stated categorically that the Herald publication was “completely false.”

“Indeed, there is no scintilla of evidence to back the Herald story. The reportage passes for irresponsible media aggression, and certainly not journalism,” the statement stressed.

The statement continued that “there has never been any rot associated with our operations here at Ghana Gas,” adding they “find it very unusual for a journalistic outlet to throw away the cardinal journalistic standard of fairness and the responsibility to tell the truth as it engages in news resorting.”

It concluded that Ghana Gas remain committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all our operations.

The country’s foremost gas company demanded a retraction and a formal apology from the Herald newspaper.

“We demand retraction of the story and formal apology to repair the damage caused to our organization,” portion of the statement said.
