Host of Accra FM’s flagship political show, ‘Citizen Show’ Kwabena Bobie Ansah has alleged that the management of Despite Media, owners of United Television (UTV) had a hand in the recent attack on its media firm.

Sharing his view on the Angel Morning Show, on Monday, October 9, 2023, he said some faceless individuals at Despite Media might have had knowledge about the whole incident.

“I have the feeling that somebody working within that space assisted or the UTV management team were aware of the attack,” he told Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.

He exclaimed that under normal circumstances, media houses have very tight security and hence wondered why the NPP thugs managed to get access to the main studio without any fierce resistance.

“A radio station or a media house like Despite Media cannot tell me that their entrance is not fully secured, to the extent of allowing strangers to badge in. I guess Father Dickson and some other leaders within the media will have to offer further clarifications. This should even give us a fair idea of what actually transpired during the show,” the vociferous broadcast journalist said.

He added that, this incident is indirectly cautioning media houses to arm themselves while carrying out their respective duties as a source of defense to avoid any unforeseen incident where a journalist will be murdered.

“With current happenings, the media personalities have indirectly been compelled to carry weapons as a source of defense,” he said.

Mr. Ansah highlighted that there is the tendency for individuals to hold varying perspectives when issues arise hence, tolerance must always play a key role rather than posing threats to media personalities involved.

“As issues circulate, individuals form diverse perspective, but they should prioritize tolerance over posing threats to media personalities involved,” he underscored.
