Akyem Oda Member of Parliament (MP), Alexander Kwasi Acquah has said that the former President, John Mahama will rather offer to Ghanaians a 24 hour power outage, otherwise known as Dumsor when re-elected President in the 2024 elections.

The 2024 Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) launched its flagship policy, the 24-hour economy, which the party say will be their trump card for the 2024 elections.

The 24-hour Economy will be a deliberate policy intervention by the next NDC/Mahama government to encourage and support certain businesses and companies to operate 24/7, preferably in a three-shift system of 8 hours each, by creating an enabling environment that promotes productivity, competitiveness and well-paying jobs.

Whereas the proposal has been hailed by NDC members as the blueprint for resolving the worsening unemployment rate and wobbly economy, members of the governing New Patriotic Party say it’s a bogus idea and an afterthought.

Commenting on the 24 hour economy policy on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the Akyem Oda MP said Mahama has nothing to offer apart from a 24-hour dumsor that will further cripple the country’s economy.

“The 24 economy will be nothing but a 24 hour dumsor and that is what Mahama would offer, one that will cripple the country’s economy further…,” he told host, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah.

He believes the NPP under Dr Bawumia has the magic wand to move Ghana forward and hence called on Ghanaians to stop paying heed to Mahama’s sugar-coated promises.

“Our inflation has started declining once again, thanks to Bryan Acheampong, food inflation is not going down and that is a testament of what we can do when giving more time…,” he said.
