The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has urged the government to cease the implementation of the emissions levy in the interim.

According to him, the emissions levy tax is less important hence his call for the suspension.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), he noted that he keep receiving numerous calls from some Ghanaians expressing their concerns over the emission levy.

“We are all Ghanaians, no matter the party you support, whether NPP or NDC…so it’s important to heed the calls of the citizens,” he told host, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah.

He expressed that he initially supported the sensitization of the electronic levy which he thought was a good thing because after the covid, the government needed resources to govern the country.

“The expectation of the e-levy was to generate certain amount of money to replace road tolls and reduce the burdens of Ghanaians,” he added.

Nana Boakye further commended the government for given listening ears to Ghanaians to and scrapping the 15% VAT on Electricity consumption.
