Scrap ‘useless’ NCCE – Osofo Kyiri Abosom

The flagbearer for the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Dr. Christian Andrew, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has called for the scraping of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

According to him, the NCCE is no more significant compared to its intended establishment and has a become waste of the country’s national resources.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show he said “Let’s call a spade a spade, there is nothing like the existence of the relevance of the NCCE because they are bringing no development to the country.

“Do we have NCCE in the country? We don’t have any NCCE. We must be able to speak the truth because What is not good is not good, what is good is good,” he stated.

Buttressing his point, the Man of God narrated his experience during former President John Agyekum Kufour’s era when he was employed to work at the NCCE as a field officer in the Kumasi District Office.

According to him, after assuming his post he spoke against the then government in power which contributed to transferring him to the Asante Mampong District.

The pastor was confused as to why he was demoted and posted to another location shortly after taking place in his office until he got to establish the fact.

He continued that at Asante Mampong he realised there was no work in progress as the officers were only engaged in using working hours to play ludo games among others.

Such development he said influenced him in his quest to change the narrative but all proved futile as his colleagues were not willing to sacrifice themselves to develop the nation although they were taking salaries.

He added, “As a teacher, I wanted to enter NCCE to use my knowledge to create a positive impact in society but.. so after two months after assuming office I resigned from the post and went back to my teaching field because I cannot be paid for what I do not work for.”

He further said the NCCE is less important to the country adding that “They are wasting our money, our resources, they are emptying the purse of this country.”
