Speaker to set up committee to investigate non-payment of road contractors

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced plans to investigate the issues of the outstanding payment of monues to cocoa road contractors.

He noted that he has received multiple appeals from the cocoa road contracctors in relation to failure of the Government to pay them their arrears.

The Cocoa Road Contractors Association of Ghana has expressed frustration over the delayed payment of funds owed them for work done on various road projects across the nation.

The contractors therefore sought audience with the Speaker of Parliament to voice out their frustration with the failure of the government to settle them.

The speaker as part of efforts to dealing with their frustrations set up a committee to carefully investigate the matter.

“I have received many petitions from contractors regarding non-payment of their labor, a lot of arrears from COCOBOD and Roads and Highways. In fact, I propose setting up a high-powered committee to investigate that matter because it is very important,” he said.
