Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has officially abdicated his seat as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament, giving way to Alexander Afenyo-Markins, Member of Parliament for Efutu, as the new Majority Leader.

This change happened after Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, presented the recommendations of the National Executive Committee (NEC) involving the change of leadership in parliament to the National Council of the Party at a meeting held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

Based on the recommendations of the National Executive Committee, which also received the approval of the National Council, the new leadership in parliament will look like this;

  1. Majority Leader: Alexander Afenyo-Markin, MP for Effutu
  2. Deputy Majority Leader: Patricia Appiagyei, MP for Asokwa
  3. Majority Chief Whip: Frank Annoh Dompreh, MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri
  4. First Deputy Majority Chief Whip: Habib Iddrisu, MP for Tolon
  5. Second Deputy Majority Chief Whip: Alex Tetteh Djornobuah, MP for Sefwi Akontombra
Composition of new Majority Leadership in Parliament

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, however, remains the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and also chairs the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 Manifesto Committee.
