President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo is expected to deliver his last but one State of the Nation (SoNA) address as per the provision in Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

The Constitution mandates: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation.”

The President is expected to deliver his address on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

Ghanaians will be keen to hear the President talk about the current value of the cedi which keeps on depreciating and the high cost of living plunging Ghanaians into poverty.

It will be imperative for Ghanaians if the President speaks on nuisance taxes such as the COVID-19 levy, E-levy, and others, especially going into the December 7 polls.

Labour Unions such as Ghana Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) have shared their views and are certain the address has nothing new to offer.

In light of all these expectations, it is highly anticipated that his address will touch on the current economy of Ghana, which is currently under the IMF program and the government’s strategic policies to salvage the current economic mess.
