The next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government under John Dramani Mahama will revive the operations of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Twum Barima Esq has said.

He noted that TOR which is currently not working will be redefined by the former President who is seeking reelection in the December 2024 general election.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Thursday, February 29, 2024, he accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of failing to take key interest in the activities of the only oil refinery.

“Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia have not taken any interest in TOR and this has led to its collapse. The government too has shown that they have no interest in reviving it…,but John Dramani Mahama has promised to revive and make it work again because it is one of the many policies of Mr. Mahama,” he said.

According to him, the planned decision of the former President would become extremely important to Ghanaians as it has the potential to provide employment for the youth.

“TOR was known for refining crude but in recent times it has turned to a storage facility where it stores production of other companies,” he claimed

Twum Barima Esq further revealed that majority of its workers have resigned and traveled to Iraq for greener pastures.
