Businessman and entrepreneur Dr Kofi Amoah, popularly known as Citizen Kofi, says the passage of the Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill presents an opportune moment for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to rise with “pride” and “confidence”.

For him, the talk about the country forfeiting aid to the tune of $3.8 billion should not be an indicator to assent to the bill or not.

“LGBTQ or No-LGBTQ, we must become free and untethered to any paymaster ventriloquist who pulls his strings to make us to do, say or think what he commands,” Dr Amoah wrote on Tuesday, March 5 following a letter from the Finance Ministry that Ghana risks losing billions of Dollars in aid if the bill is assented to.

We need courageous n wise leaders to help free us,” he added.

He indicated that the matter goes beyond homosexuality as Africa and Ghana, for that matter, is wealthier than America in terms of natural resources.

Dr Amoah stressed that how President Akufo-Addo handles this matter will tell of Ghana’s “dignity” across the globe.

“And let’s not shame the constitution because how we handle this matter will define Ghana’s dignity today, tomorrow and for a long time.”
