The former Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Kwaku Boahen, has expressed grave concerns over the deepening power crisis popularly called ‘dumsor’, emphasizing the security threats it presents.

Kwaku Boahen voiced concerns about the widespread darkness and insecurity stemming from the massive ‘DUMSOR’ crisis. He referenced the situation in 2016, highlighting former President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts in resolving ‘dumsor’ at that time, emphasizing the impact of effective measures in combating the issue.

“Dumsor has been very massive it has caused darkness everywhere and it has caused a lot of insecurities amongst us Kwaku Boahen , so In January 2016, Ghana didn’t have ‘DUMSOR’ anymore, and the former president John Dramani Mahama fixed the ‘Dumsor’ situation and this means that all what JM did was beneficial” he expressed.

Additionally, he drew attention to the current financial challenges, noting the difficulties in affording gas and electricity.

He also pointed out that currently, there isn’t enough money to cover the costs of gas and electricity. However, during John Mahama’s presidency, it was evident that Ghana didn’t have to depend solely on gas imports from Nigeria. He expressed worries that there could be a time when the gas supply might not meet the country’s needs adequately.
