Three persons have been confirmed dead at the New Yilo Krobo District Hospital in the Eastern Region, after a Toyota Fish mini-van with passengers on board was involved in an accident along the Aseseeso-Somanya highway.

The accident which happened at about 4:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2024, claimed the life of  Mabel Narkie Sangmor, who teaches at the basic department of Somanya Presby School as well as the driver’s mate and one other who was not identified at the time of the accident.

The accident vehicle with the registration number GT 5990 – 21, according to sources available to Angelonline.com.gh, was heading towards Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality from Accra.

The deceased, we understand, were among more than 10 victims of the accident who were initially rushed to the district hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Narrating the circumstances leading to the accident, the driver who has been identified as Stephen Tetteh attributed the unfortunate incident to brake failure.

According to him, before exiting the Aseseeso township, he noticed a failure in the vehicle’s brake system.

He said, he later lost control of his steering wheel while descending the Aseseeso Mountain. All attempts to salvage the situation did not materialise before crashing into the bush, he stated.
