Alleged manipulation of votes: Mahama should seek redress at IPAC – Asunafo South DCE

District Chief Executive of Asunafo South Frank Aduse Poku

The District Chief Executive of Asunafo South, Frank Aduse Poku, has called on former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to address their grievances with the Electoral Commission (EC) through proper channels.

Aduse Poku in his remarks on John Mahama’s comment that the EC was trying to skew election results in favor of the NPP, he emphasised the importance of setting a good example for the youth, who look up to their leaders and are influenced by their words and actions.

“The future of this country is bleak when our youth follow the steps of leaders who make certain comments and take certain actions,” Aduse Poku remarked.

Aduse Poku drew attention to a statement made by Mahama in April 2016, where the former president dismissed claims that the EC would manipulate election results in his favor as “nonsense.” He questioned the consistency of Mahama’s current stance, where he alleges that the EC is attempting to skew election results for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“In April 2016, Mahama stated that claims of election results being skewed in his favor were ‘nonsense.’ Is his current claim that the EC is trying to skew results for Bawumia also ‘nonsense’?” Aduse Poku queried.

He further recalled another statement from Mahama in November 2016, in which the former president asserted that no one could alter the outcome of election results and advised anyone with concerns to address them through the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC).

But I want to ask, “what has changed now that Mahama can’t take his concerns to IPAC to be addressed?” Aduse Poku questioned.

Aduse Poku admonished Mahama and the NDC to follow proper procedures and present their issues to IPAC rather than making public accusations.

“If you have issues, why don’t you give to Omane Boamah to take to IPAC to be addressed there?” he suggested.
