NPP accuses NDC government of “fiddling” with anti-flood interventions as June 29 rains hit Accra

The presence of known members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the helm of affairs at the Electoral Commission (EC) is not reason for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to go into the 2024 elections with its own set of referees, General Secretary of the party, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey has said.

According to him, the election regulatory institution in the country has been infiltrated with persons who have over the years shown their disdain for the NDC and hence it is impossible for them to trust such an entity.

Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues which was monitored by Angelonline.com.gh, Fiifi Kwetey said the presence of the likes of Bossman Asare, a Deputy Commissioner at the EC is enough to communicate to the party and its teeming supporters that the party cannot be assured of a free, fair and transparent polls in December.

“There is not trust at because as far as we are concerned the way Nana Akufo-Addo has gone about business with the Electoral Commission (EC), that is not how you govern a country…if you have people who belong to the NPP who are supposed to be in charge of the elections, you are going to be naive to trust them…,” he said.

The NDC which is convinced about this, he added, will go into the elections with its own judges and ensure that they win the polls hands down.

“We are not going to make any Supreme Court to make any determination this time around, we want to make sure we win right at the polling station and ensure that the votes are counted and the votes are absolutely protected in order for the real will of the people to make manifest…,” he stated.
