Founder and leader of the United Front Party (UFP), Akwasi Addai, popularly known as Odike, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for failing to acknowledge the achievements of his predecessor, late President John Atta Mills, and for mismanaging the economy he inherited.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS), Odike expressed his disappointment, stating that Mahama has not given credit to Atta Mills for his commendable work while in office.
“NDC do not mention the names of Atta Mills when speaking and Mahama himself does not give credit to the man,” Odike said.
Odike argued that if Mahama had continued the policies of Atta Mills, the country’s economic trajectory might have been more favorable. He highlighted several economic indicators to support his claims.
“Atta Mills left inflation at a single digit, but under Mahama, it rose to 17%. Atta Mills maintained inflation in single digits, yet under Mahama’s leadership, the country had to turn to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for support. The economic growth rate under Atta Mills was 14%, but it plummeted to 3.7% when Mahama took over…,” he said.
According to him, this indicates that Mahama neglected the successful policies of his predecessor and failed to manage the economy effectively.
Odike emphasized the importance of giving credit to those who performed well, pointing out that Mahama squandered the economic gains achieved by Atta Mills.
He firmly stated that Mahama should not be given another chance to become president.
