As the conversation around measures to secure a peaceful country before, during, and after the 2024 elections continues, Akwasi Addae Odike has suggested that sacking of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), is the best solution.
He believes that for the country to be assured of incident-free elections, the Chairperson of the EC Jean Mensa must be relieved from her duties before the nationwide exercise.
Speaking on Monday’s edition of the Angel Morning Show, Odike who is leader of the Union Government, a member of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, accused the EC chairperson of wrongdoings and bias in its operations, which he said have the potential to cause electoral violence on December 7.
He is, therefore, entreating President Nana Akufo-Addo to listen to his plea and sack the EC boss to maintain national harmony.
“Ghanaians, let us not trust this woman called Jean Mensa. We should sack her before the unforeseen occurs because she can cause electoral violence in the country,” he told host of the show, Okatakyei Afrifa-Mensah.
According to Odike who was disqualified by the EC from contesting the 2020 presidential candidate on the ticket of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Ghanaians should not undermine his warning because he is speaking from a personal encounter with the Electoral Commission.
“Everyone knows me, I say what I know and say it as it is… so, I’m talking from experience,” Akwasi Addae Odike stated.
