Political Science Lecture at the University of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asah Asante, has projected that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will retain its seat in the Madina Constituency of Accra.

He said with three months to the December 7, 2024, election, the NDC is currently in a pole position to record victory in the parliamentary election.

According to him, the projection which was conducted using a scientific analysis, has a 69.38% for the NDC with 30.01% for the NPP. This means there is a chance of the NDC winning the seat with a vast difference of 39.37% votes.

Dr. Asah Asante revealed this Saturday, August 31, 2024, on the ‘Yen Man Ghana’ Political Show on Angel TV while analyzing results and predictions in swing constituencies in the country’s election history.

The political science analyst said the projection was done using scientific analysis devoid of hearsay, opinions, prophecies, and others.

Dr. Asah Asante rather indicates it serves as a guide to the political parties going into the December 7, general elections and not a pronouncement as could be interpreted by a section of the public.

In his explanation of what puts the NDC ahead of the NPP in its projection cited the economic hardship coupled with the poor standard of living in the country.

NPP accuses NDC government of “fiddling” with anti-flood interventions as June 29 rains hit Accra

“Businesses and standard of living have been very difficult for the people including traders, prompting them to complain bitterly. So if the NPP does not up their game, it will go against them in the election.

“So both parties [the NPP and NDC] should listen carefully and consider the factors that determine voters’ choices,” he said Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Amongst these factors he mentioned, are infrastructure development, employment and other developmental policies to improve the standard of Ghanaian citizens.

However, the revered political science lecturer believes that “research and statical model indicate both the NPP and NDC can win the seat in the area regardless.”

Incumbent MP for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu

The Madina Constituency, being one of the many swing constituencies in the country, has the NDC’s Francis-Xavier Sosu as incumbent Member of Parliament after unseating the NPP’s Abubakar Saddick Boniface in the 2016 polls.

He pulled 62,127 votes, representing 56.58 percent, as against 46,985 votes, representing 42.79 percent, recorded by the latter.
