Host of the morning show on Angel TV and Angel 102.9 FM, Okatakyie Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, has for the past couple of days, been trending following his bold to confront illegal mining in some of the country’s forest reserves.

Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah was recently in the Asankrangwa Forest reserve in the Western Region, for firsthand account of the devastation caused by activities of persons engaged in illegal mining popularly called ‘galamsey’.Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah galamsey

He was accompanied by some members of his production team as well as his colleague presenter of the morning show on Kessben TV, Appiah Kubi.

It was there they discovered illegal mining activities that were not only devastating the forest but also contaminating nearby water bodies.

During his investigations, Afrifa Mensah and his team successfully apprehended three Chinese nationals who were engaged in the illegal mining operation, further contributing to the destruction of the forest and water pollution.Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah galamsey

Afrifa-Mensah further uncovered the involvement of various high-profile individuals, including chiefs, Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs), Members of Parliament (MPs) and other prominent figures who are allegedly backing the illegal mining activities in the country.

He handed the three Chinese men over to the Asankrangwa police and has since vowed to continue his crusade against illegal mining to protect the nation’s natural resources.
