The 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to construct a sea defense wall for the people of Ada and other coastal communities in the Greater Accra Region.

The wall, when put up will help prevent the communities from tidal waves which is gradually washing away some fishing communities.

Lives and properties amounting to millions of Ghana cedis mostly destroyed when the sea over flows its banks.

This has caused the chiefs and people to almost always demand that their communities be protected from the threat of the sea. The chiefs of Sege and Ada repeated same calls when they met the 2024 flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Dr Bawumia responding to the demands of the chiefs said putting up a defense wall for Sege, Ada and other coastal communities is top of his agenda when he becomes President.

He continued that it’s also his heart desire that Sege also gets a fishing harbour as well to help boost the fishing business in the area.

Fisher folks, he continued, will also be assisted with soft loans through the Women Empowerment bank to better their trades.

The Vice President also assured the fisher folks that he will resolve issues with the supply of premix fuel.

“In Sege, the fishermen wants premixed fuel, so we want to establish automatic dispensing digital machine for premix here in Sege. We need a mini harbour here so we’re going to work on bringing a mini harbour here for you in Sege. That’s a very important thing to be done,” he said.

Dr Bawumia also promised to work on the road network in Sege and Ada constituencies as well.

“Of course the roads need to be done. We have issues with roads in this part…and of course we have to do the sea defense wall…I have a lot to do for you…,” he said.
