Upper East Chiefs re-elect Pe Ayagitam III and Naaba Atasige III as President and Vice

The Upper East Regional House of Chiefs unanimously endorsed the second-term leadership of their President, Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam III, the Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, and Vice President, Naaba Anonsona Abisa Anthony Atasige III, the Paramount Chief of the Mirigu Traditional Area.

During the election which took place on Monday, September 16, 2024, both leaders presented their manifestos, highlighting their achievements and future plans.

Pe Adiali Ayagitam emphasized his commitment that led to delivering on his previous promises, particularly the renovation of the Regional House of Chiefs.

He proudly noted that this had been successfully accomplished, transforming the facility into a structure befitting its status. He further pledged to construct a guest house in the regional capital to accommodate members during their visits, a project that he would undertake if granted another term.

In his address, Pe Adiali Ayagitam expressed confidence in his competence and experience, assuring his colleagues that he knew how to source funding for such developmental projects. He also encouraged the paramount chiefs to push forward the names of their divisional chiefs for consideration for elevation to paramountcy status, emphasizing the need for growth and progression within the traditional hierarchy.

Vice President-elect Naaba Anonsona Abisa Anthony Atasige III, who attended the event with the support of three of his divisional chiefs—Kandiga Naba Henry Abawine Amenga-Etego, Nabango Naba, Naaba Atogumzoya Atuguba, and Pungubiisi Naba, Naaba Francis Awineparigiya Anaafo—spoke of his steadfast support for the president. He outlined their joint efforts in fulfilling their promises to the House, including a complete renovation of the House of Chiefs and the installation of tiles to enhance its appearance.

Naaba Anonsona affirmed their commitment to the long-awaited guest house project, assuring that it would be brought to fruition during their new term.

In addition to their re-election, Pe Adiali Ayagitam III and Naaba Anonsona Abisa Anthony Atasige III were elected to represent the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs at the National House of Chiefs.THouse of Chiefs, Upper East, hey will be joined by three other elected members: Naaba Orlando Alebizire A. Awini, the Paramount Chief of Naaga; Pe Dennis Aniakwoa Balinia Asagipare Adda, the Navoro Pio; and Nab Yelzooya Asaaga II, the Paramount Chief of Nangodi.

These five representatives will serve the region at the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi for the next four years.

The ceremony was a vibrant and culturally significant event, with chiefs donning a variety of traditional regalia that added splendor to the occasion. The atmosphere was one of pride and unity, reflecting the importance of the institution and the continuity of leadership within the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs.
