Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah Bonsu, has accused former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC as the brain behind the recent Democracy Hub protests.

According to him, Mr. Mahama is using the protesters as a ploy to make the ruling government unpopular and undermine its efforts ahead of the 2024 general elections.

He said without mincing words that the democracy hub protesters were members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) whose actions were financed and orchestrated by its flagbearer Mr. Mahama.

Mr. Owusu Obempah, speaking on the Friday’s edition of the Angel Morning Show dubbed “Mixology” described the exercise that eventually turned chaos as reckless and detrimental to national stability.

“Excuse me to say, you see few aimless people calling themselves democracy hub with impunity, causing lawlessness and with their ‘useless’ behaviour across the country all in the name of staging demonstrations.

It is because you will get John Mahama and its NDC have decided to support recklessness because they know that they are loosing the 2024 elections,” he said in his accusations.

In his view, the NDC knew they were not favourite for the upcoming elections slated on December 7, hence using series of demonstrations as a scheme to win sympathy votes from the people.

“So the only way to prevent that from happening is instigating and financing some mentally and unstable youth to create instability in the country amid destabilising Ghanaians’ peace and stability.”

He urged Ghanaians to be vigilant not to fall for such tactics that, in his view, seek to create unnecessary unrest.
