I will die for NDC to retain Cape Coast North seat – Chairman
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Richard Kofi Asiedu, has vowed to do everything in his power to ensure the party retains the Cape Coast North parliamentary seat in the upcoming December 2024 elections.

Speaking at the launch of the constituency’s campaign, Professor Asiedu passionately declared his readiness to sacrifice for the cause, stating, “I am ready to die for this constituency to retain the seat for the NDC.”

Addressing party members and supporters, Prof Asiedu emphasized the NDC’s determination to contest the elections fiercely, saying the party is prepared to face the New Patriotic Party (NPP) head-on.

He endorsed the re-election of the current NDC MP, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, and criticized the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North, Ekow Horace Ewusi for lacking credibility.

“The NPP candidate, Ekow Horace Ewusi, has a history with the galamsey excavators. How can someone with such baggage represent Cape Coast North? We will not allow it.”

Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, the incumbent MP, used the campaign launch to outline his achievements during his first term in office.

He highlighted various community projects, including the provision of furniture, educational materials, scholarships, and support for local businesses.

Dr. Nyarku stressed that 65% of the NDC’s manifesto focuses on addressing youth unemployment and improving livelihoods, urging the constituents to vote for him and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.

Also speaking at the event, Cape Coast South MP George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan took aim at both NPP candidates in the Cape Coast area.

He accused Horace Ekow Ewusi of being entangled in the missing excavator saga and criticized the NPP’s Cape Coast South candidate for engaging in sand mining along the beach, stating that such actions are unfit for individuals seeking public office.

Mr. Ricketts-Hagan urged voters to reject the NPP’s candidates and support the NDC, emphasizing the party’s commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians and restoring integrity to governance.

As the December elections approach, the NDC’s leadership in Cape Coast North is confident in its ability to retain the seat, with party officials and supporters rallying behind their candidate for victory.
