International Diplomacy Consultant, Farouk Al Wahab, has described the Ghanaian Parliament as the most humiliated on the African continent.

According to him, the House has disappointed the country to such an extent that it reflects poorly on the entire continent, due to what he characterizes as its ineffective stature.”

“But a whole value and at the end of the day, it is about the country of their constituencies they represent as parliamentarians. Thou, there will be fighting and misunderstanding, but when it comes to the value of the country with its ideas, aspirations, and what the country ought to achieve, then Parliament comes first regardless of what the person divides,” he expressed while speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Angel TV and Angel 102.9 FM, Accra.

He reiterated his statement saying, “Parliament has humiliated the country Ghana more than any Parliament on the continent of Africa.”

The diplomat expressed concern that despite the country having a House with a significant portion of its parliamentarians being legal practitioners, Ghana has not derived any significant benefits from them.

“Which parliament on the continent of Africa has about 65 to 70% of its parliamentarians being lawyers, Ghana comes first yet the same parliament sued the Ghanaian government for judgment debt and Ghana has paid such debts throughout the 4th republic to date in a very gruesome way. They have requisite energy and expertise in law, but Ghanaians are not seeing any results,” he highlighted.

He further described it as “humiliation”, stating that the Ghanaian Parliament has failed to fulfill its primary duties, citing their inability to combat illegal mining practices yet they have the audacity to accuse traditional authorities of failing in the fight against this issue.
