Director of Operations for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah has said that the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should first debate the President, Nana Akufo-Addo before thinking of debating Mahama.

Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, he said Bawumia needs to debate President Akufo Addo to clear negative perceptions in the minds of Ghanaians.

“If Dr. Bawumia needs someone to debate with, it must be President Nana Addo to clear any doubts in the minds of Ghanaians and prove to them that, he can be taken serious”, he said.

He acknowledged that the debate will aid in holding politicians accountable and also assist in accessing policies.

“I believe in order to access and hold presidential aspirants accountable and understand their policies, we need to engage in debates”, he recommended.

The PPP Operations Director believes Bawumia through his utterances is fighting his government and its achievements.

“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made us understand that, he is his own man hence the decision to drift away from his own political party and government. The things he is saying are contrary to the works of the sitting government…he is making promises of eradicating certain implemented policies such as betting tax, port duties and many others”, he said.
