On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, National United Kingdom (UK) Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), remarked that, like Kufour, Akufo-Addo has improved Ghana’s economy.

In an interview with the Angel Morning Show, the Kufour administration restored Ghana’s economy to 8.5% GDPA after taking over the country’s damaged economy from the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) which is now the National Democratic Congress (NDC), at a GDP rate of 3.4%.

“The Kufour administration restored Ghana’s economy to 8.5% after taking over from the PNDC, which is now the NDC, at a GDP rate of 3.4%. GDPA”, he explained.

He remarked that the Late Former President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills, lifted the bar for Ghana’s GDP to a percentage of 14 in Ghana’s economy.

“John Evans Atta Mills, the late former president of Ghana, upped the GDP threshold to 14 percent of the country’s total GDP”, he stated.

He denounced the actions of former President John Dramani Mahama in 2016, who reduced Ghana’s GDP from 14% to 3.4%, undoing the wonderful accomplishment of the late John Evans Mills.

“In 2016, former President John Dramani Mahama undid the amazing work of the late John Evans Mills, who improved Ghana’s economy from 14% in 2012 to 3.4%”, he reckoned.

He went on to explain that the current NPP government took control of Ghana’s economy while the country was heavily in debt and had a GDP of 3.4%.

“Ghana had a 3.4% GDP and was heavily indebted when the NPP government took over the country’s economy”, he emphasized.

He noted that President Akufo-Addo is dedicated to fixing Ghana so that it may prosper once again.

“President Akufo-Addo is determined to repairing Ghana to prosper once more”, he said.

He claimed that, Ghana had the world’s fastest expanding economy prior to the outbreak of COVID-19.

“Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, Ghana’s economy was the world’s fastest expanding”, he said.

According to him, the impact of the Corona Virus on Ghana’s economy cannot be underestimated.

“The impact of Corona Virus on Ghana’s economy cannot be downplayed”, he highlighted.
