History will be kind to Akufo-Addo – Prof Kwame Gyan

A Professor of Law at the University of Ghana, Kwame Gyan has said the administration President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was not entirely bad as some critics want Ghanaians to believe.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo throughout his administration undertook certain bold policies which will soon have positive results on the fortunes of the country.

These policies, which were mostly unpopular and hence led to the defeat of the NPP in the 2024 polls, were necessary evils for the betterment of the country.

“Let’s be fair to him, he is leaving the scene on 7th January, I pray that history will be kind to him…history will say what it wants to say about Akufo-Addo but maybe along the road when we start realising the positive effects of some his bold actions, we will start appreciating him…,” he said.

The legal luminary further opined that it is no news that some Ghanaians are celebrating NPP’s lost in the 2024 elections because “same Ghanaians jubilated when Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown.”

“Were Ghanaians not the same people who praised Akufo-Addo and called him sweet names? But I insist history will be kind to Akufo-Addo…,” Prof Gyan said.

The NPP lost by huge margins in the 2024 elections leading many to believe the party will not rise to power anymore. Others also believe the President, Nana Akufo-Addo has been the worst President in the history of the 4th republic.
