The third Vice Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Osman Masawudu has called on the President, John Dramani Mahama to work around the clock to maintain the free Senior High School (SHS) policy which was started by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration.
Alhaji Masawudu during a panel discussion with Saddick Adams on the Angel Morning Show on Monday 13th January, 2025 mentioned it is very necessary for the newly sworn-in President to continue with the social intervention since it helped Ghanaian students to get access to free boarding, tuition free as well as free food.
He further stated that, President Mahama should also extend the free SHS to the students in private schools just as he promised during the 2024 electioneering campaign.
“Don’t come and tell us you are rationalizing anything go and do it…the private schools have voted massively for you so you should not come and tell us you are going to rationalize it,” he said.
He warned that Ghanaians would never forgive President Mahama if he fails to protect the policy adding that it is also critical that the President “learn to differentiate between rationalization and abolishment”.
Alhaji Osman Masawudu further called on President Mahama to make sure that the first year tertiary students goes to school for free.
“I have two children there and I don’t want to hear that they should pay money” he said.
